In Defence of Casual Dressing

Words cannot describe my love for this jacket. I feel like I'm surrounded by a layer of clouds when I wear it, and even on a cold February day it kept me so warm. My bestie Martha let me borrow this one when I saw it and my face literally turned into the heart-eyed emoji. She has a depop account and often has pieces like this on her store, so head over to her page if you want your very own marshmallow-y puffa jacket.

Sometimes I wish I was the kind of girl that was super high fashion and adventurous - but then I wear a jacket like this and the wish to be high fashion couldn't seem further away. I'm not going to beat around the bush - 99.999% of the time I dress for comfort. My uniform is always some variation of an outfit that includes jeans and trainers - sorry not sorry.

I actually had a conversation with my friend about this today, and I admitted that - if I knew the guy and it was a chilled bar, not a fancy restaurant - I would probably wear trainers on a date.

Is that bad? I don't know. Maybe it is - but you gotta take me as I am, I guess. I think it's better to be honest about these kind of things, I wouldn't rock up to a date in a dress and heels unless I knew I would feel comfortable in it. I'm not going to dress in a way that's not me to impress someone - there's bound to be plenty of people out there who will appreciate my love for trainers and even love me for it. Don't get me wrong - if the occasion calls for a more formal outfit I will of course dress that way - but my natural comfort point is jeans and trainers.

Part of me thinks though, that I can get away with my uber casual dressing right now because I'm a student, living in a student-y city where even a night out is pretty casual - no heels in sight - and that pretty soon I'm going to have to wake up to the real world where you have to dress up a bit more.

I know my mum has gotten a bit frustrated at me and my constantly causal approach to dressing once or twice (mostly at my attachment to trainers) - but I think a common misconception with casual dressing is that it's linked to a lack of pride in your appearance / a lack of effort. In my case, anyway, this is not the case. I may not take as much time in the morning as lots do to get ready - but I still run the straighteners through my hair and stick some makeup on everyday.

What are your thoughts on casual dressing? Do you think there's a time and a place, or would you rock up to a drinks date in jeans and trainers too? I personally don't see anything wrong with it - or "over-dressing" for that matter! You do you.

Rock Your Body

Sweater/Warehouse . Shorts/DIY . Boots/Primark . Bag/Primark . Sunglasses/New Look

Last weekend was a mixture of glitter, friends, dry shampoo, dancing and loud music. Pretty good weekend, huh? Of course, I'm talking about V Fest- the perfect excuse to smear glitter across your cheeks and dance to Justin Timberlake. I considered taking outfit snaps whilst I was there, but in the end I decided to take the weekend away from the internet. For a more authentic outfit you'll need your imagination here- swap the ankle boots for wellies and my front door for a field.

Since we last spoke I haven't got the chance to update you (unless you follow me on twitter) but the exciting news is that I won't be standing in front on this door much longer! It's officially official, next month I'm headed to Leeds University. I couldn't be more excited to share it with you. So that's what's going on with me right now, but let me know what's been happening with you too!

Winter Winds

Silly me for thinking it was warm enough to roll up my jeans and were loafers.

Here's a 'what I'm wearing most days' kind of outfit to go with my last post- a 'how I'm painting my face on everyday' kind of thing, although I think I did phrase it slightly more eloquently last time. What can I say, I feel like school is burning me out slightly right now? Deadlines are looming so thank heavens next week is half term. Time to blitz through my ever-growing 'to-do' list.

Any twitter followers might know that I broke my one and only camera lens last weekend, and this is the only post that I had prepared. *applause* Until it's fixed I'm going to need to get all creative and improvise- oh how I love being kept on my toes... I have a few possible solutions with the worse-case scenario costing me £200, but let's not dwell on that because it brings a tear to my eye (and my bank account).

With that, I hope that your week has been slightly cheerier than mine (although that wouldn't be difficult), and I hope tomorrow is a great start to the week!

January Inspiration

After neglecting it for a while, Tumblr has been my go-to app recently. It's an amazing source of inspiration- so here is a round-up of what's been on my Tumblr page recently. If you saw my last post on here then you might know that monochrome has been on my mind lately, and its definitely spilled over onto Tumblr.

As usual, I've been pretty busy occupying myself with school, homework, and waiting for the weekend. Thank goodness it's nearly here! I can tell that the next few months are going to be one huge, manic blur, so it's probably wise for me to warn you that

1) This little corner of the internet will be my outlet, and
2) this sucks, but I can't guarantee two or three posts a week. However, a new post will be here every Monday morning, hopefully with little extras throughout the week too.

All this late night blogging is doing me no good though, and my bed is calling. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Update: Merry Christmas!

Other than eating, drinking, and playing games with the family, I spent some time capturing little moments of the day.

*Cue pretty lights and food*

If you celebrate Christmas I hope you had a wonderful day. I hope your head isn't pounding too much from all the Christmas cocktails, and that you have plenty of left-overs for the next week. (Because let's face it, who doesn't love left-over turkey and stuffing?) Now to hibernate in a corner with chocolate and a good festive movie...

The Mid Chop

My hair has been in need of a good chop since goodness knows when. I took inspiration from the likes of Alexa Chung and blogger Alix, (who writes I Covett Thee) with her long bob. My hair now feels uber short, but I'm liking it.

Forgotten how long my hair was a few days ago? Take a scroll through my last few posts- it was pretty long. I'm not planning on changing my routine that much, but we'll see how we go! It's going to be so much more manageable, and hopefully my beloved Aussie Texturizing Spray that I spoke about in July will make a re-appearance now that my hair won't be so heavy.

Would you go for such a drastic change?

Ditsy Florals

Hurrah! The nice weather has returned. I've been trying to think about things I could update y'all on, but I couldn't think of much. I've pretty much been moping around the house everyday, listening to music, watching tv, reading blogs, looking at uni courses. That's pretty much my life at the minute, other than bits of school work. I've been watching Skins, and after I've seen all those I'm going to watch New Girl. Anyone have any ideas of how I could procrastinate the next few weeks away? I have a few things planned, but other than that, nothing much...

Oh, also, one week till results day. EEEEK.
